College of law for women, Andhra Mahila Sabha is the only privately managed Law College for women in Andhra Pradesh.  It is permitted by Govt., of Andhra Pradesh on permanent basis, Approved by Bar Council of India and affiliated to Osmania University with a permitted intake of 60 in to 3 year LL.B Course every year and permitted intake of 20 in LL.M, Labour laws and Constitutional Law.

The Mission and vision of the College is to prepare the students to achieve Professional success and personal satisfaction through leadership and service to others. The College of Law is guided by values in General and Professional in particular Indian/Global Tradition of Academic Excellence, Freedom of enquiry and Respect for individual differences. Its vision is to provide justice oriented education essential to the realization of values enshrined in the Constitution of India and making morals and ethics as integral part of legal education. The college since inception has been providing excellent teaching –Learning and professional training in Lawyering skills.  The pass percentage at the university examination year is consistently above 90% and many of them secured Gold Medals, Ist Classes and Distinctions.

The College of Law for Women,Andhra Mahila Sabha  was established in 1991 as a tribute to the founder of the Andhra Mahila Sabha, Padma Vibhushan Dr(Smt) Durgabai Deshmukh  who was a successful Lawyer with only 12 students  and the college is located in stunning surroundings of serene atmosphere  in the residence of (Smt) Durgabai Deshmukh, “Rachana” Building conducive to serious training having the goal to produce “Lawyers in the best sense” professionally and incidentally enabling the expertise in legal process outsourcing.

The 22 batches of students who passed out this college have enrolled as advocates and are practicing in the High Court and various courts of the state.  Few students have been selected as the Judges of the Lower Civil Courts.  Also some of them were selected in Multi National Companies and Govt. Departments such as BC welfare, Endowments and Juvenile Boards etc., some of them were pursuing their research studies in Law in India, Australia, UK and USA.   Apart from training women as skilled lawyers to serve the society and women community as such and for professional lawyering, its object is also to create awareness of patriarchal elements in the Legal System, Law, Gender bias justice in and training for service in the public interest.

Programmes and Activities

College Foundation Day will be celebrated every year on December 20th and College Annual Day in the month of May. Laboratory Journal will be released on this day which will be completely edited and controlled by student community.

The college conducts annually Twin Cities Inter-Collegiate Moot Court Competitions in the memory of Padmavibhushan Smt. Durgabai Deshmukh and a rolling shield will be awarded to the winning team. Legal awareness camp will be conducted in collaboration with Legal Aid Centre of Andhra Mahila Sabha every year. Law Day will be celebrated on November 26th and Human Rights Day on December 10th and International Women’s Day on March 8th every year.

Courses offered in the College : LL.B and LL.M

Admissions LL.B Course : It is a full time “regular course of study” extending for a period of 3 academic years consisting of 6 semesters leading to LL.B. degree.   It is the Convener appointed by the State (Law Common Entrance Test/for Admissions into Law colleges) admits the Candidates into private, un-aided law colleges on merit basis, left over seats by spot and Management Quota prescribed by the State will be approved by the Convener that are filled by the Management of the Colleges, followed by the prescribed standards by the G.O’s

Assessment:

The candidates have to appear for Internal Assessment tests in 9th and 14th Week of Each Semester for 20 marks out of 100 marks in each paper. The candidates have to appear for external examinations for 80 marks at the end of the Semester conducted by the Osmania University as specified by the University almanac.

Fee structure:

Tuition Fee: of Rs. 9,600+Other Fees as prescribed by the University, and Special fee by Competent Authorities and the fee structure will change periodically as per the recommendations of the AFRC.
