Durgabai Deshmukh General Hospital and Research Centre of Andhra Mahila Sabha was established in the year 1950. The institution, which was started by Dr Durgabai Deshmukh as milk distribution centre, has grown in to a modern Multi-Specialty hospital, with facilities from Gynaecology to Geriatrics over last 53 years. The hospital is situated in a very strategic location near Thiru-vi-Ka bridge at Adyar and the road itself is named after the illustrious founder Dr Durgabai Deshmukh.
The hospital is known for its facilities in General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Pediatrics, Neonatology and Geriatrics.
